Update on HWA’s response to COVID-19

As a health organisation, we care deeply about your wellbeing and the wellbeing of our team and community.

Our philosophy as an organisation is to approach this situation with empathy and urgency; HWA’s top priority is the health and safety of our employees and of the communities we serve, including our clients, families, carers, stakeholders, members and partners. As such we are committed to ensure we provide open and timely communication with you all on HWA’s plans to manage the impact of COVID -19.

For now, HWA’s office will remain open and continue to deliver vital support and assistance to our clients and communities via phone, email and digital platforms. We have also set up an alternative phone number for you to contact us to make it easier than ever to connect with us.  You can reach us on 6457 7599 or 0413 660 440.

We have taken the difficult decision to suspend all face to face activities, including group meetings and activities until further notice. This includes the Day Centre program, youth outings, carers and support groups and associated activities. This is in line with the current advice provided from the Federal Government and the Department of Health.

Like many of you, we’re closely monitoring health advice from state, federal and international bodies. If you’re looking for more information on the current status of COVID-19, or what to do if you’re at risk, we recommend the following resources:

Department of Health (Federal)
Department of Health Translated Resources
Department of Health (Western Australia)
World Health Organisation Covid-19 Portal

Covid-19 Hotline – open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week

We also acknowledge that this health crisis presents a number of mental health challenges. There are resources available for you or your loved ones if you’re in need of counselling support:
Beyond Blue, 1300 22 4636
Lifeline, 13 11 14
Mental Health Commission resources

We will we will endeavour to keep you updated to reflect any fundamental changes to our plan. Given how rapidly the outbreak is evolving, we expect, and are prepared, to iterate on our approach constantly to ensure the health and safety of our employees and communities.

Keep calm and take care!
