May is International Huntington's Awareness Month

May is International Huntington's Awareness Month

Huntington's WA will once again be part of #Light It Up 4 HD, an initiative that started in Canada some 6 years ago. #Light It Up 4 HD has become a global success story with a vast number of iconic buildings lighting up in blue and/or purple in support of people impacted by Huntington's Disease.
Whilst Covid 19 continues to disrupt many events, Huntington's WA is greatly appreciative of those iconic sites across WA that will once again #Light It Up 4 HD:

1st and 2nd May 2021

  • Fremantle Prison
  • Trafalgar Bridge
  • The Bell Tower
  • Council House

7th and/or 8th May

  • Yagan Square
  • Elizabeth Quay
  • Geraldton Queens Park Theatre
  • Mandurah Bridge
  • Matagarup Bridge
  • Sky Ribbon Bridge
  • Mount Street Pedestrian bridge
  • Graham Farmer Freeway Tunnel lights
  • Bunbury Koombana Bridge

Lighting up these sites is fantastic however raising awareness relies on spreading the word. Supporting the campaign is as easy as taking a photo and sharing the purpose with your colleagues and friends. Be sure to use #LightItUp4HD and tag Huntington's WA in any Social Media posts.

#LetsTalkAboutHD is a social media initiative during Huntington’s Disease Awareness Month in May to encourage families to share their experiences with HD…It can be a video, a photo or a written story.
HD impacts every family differently and it’s time the world knows our story.

As a global initiative HD Society of America and Huntington's WA encourage WA community members to take part.

We would love our community members to post videos, stories & photos to social media using #LetsTalkAboutHD to educate the world about the impact that HD has on families. If you prefer, you can send your stories through to Huntington's WA and we will share them on our Facebook and Instagram page.
